Critiques

Cheng:

Cheng did a great job with his self-directed project. I really like the music and how the music played an effect on the video. The storytelling was fun and clear. I felt like there was no distractions such as the clothing or having other people around. It all seemed very natural. The effects Cheng acted out in the video very naturally played off each other. The movements led very fluidly to each scene, along with his facial expressions being very clear and easy to read. The bold words showed a clear way to express the story and what was happening.

Davis:

Davis had a creative outlook with his self-directed project. It captured your eye quickly because it was so short. It had so many elements of something that was so simple and it showed such an interesting view. The edits were small but so detailed. The building and the light show a nice contrast. The effort and time into one small section or area was cool. I realized the lighting’s and the colors that you chose blended very smoothly together.  I also really enjoyed watching the different kind of trippy effects glare together. It was overall very appealing to a watch for a short period of time. I had to watch it couple of times to catch everything.

Dom:

Dom had a creative, unique and interesting outlook with his self-directed project. I like how Dom connected all the projects of each sequence of our projects together. Each product had to do something with this Loach. Also, it just was very visually appealing.  It was a creative view of something simple. It seemed like it was really hard to have something affect the water. The reflection of trees in the water were a nice affect. The color of the water was such natural blues.  Showing an interesting side of something of a different perceptive. It showed a simple way of interpretation of the self-visual project.

Amelia:

Amelia did a cool octopus with different colors for her self- direct project final. The octopus has lot of colors and pieces of clear detail. She created each sequence of the pop-up walk through an understanding screen. It showed very clear textures through the colors and objects. I wish it was a little bit longer because I wanted to see the whole picture of what she was trying to express. It did make me want to keep replaying it because of how quick it is, and I had to watch it over and over. I liked the theme of her final project a lot.

Jill:

Jill did a great job with her self-directed project final. It was very cool and it had a lot of changing movements in the sky. The light to dark affect was eye attracting. It was just something that you could totally take somewhere on campus and make you feel like you are dreaming. It was almost like you were seeing it as if you were there. I liked how the colors make you feel like time was passing. I also really like she is a tall building and used objects around the building. I also really liked the way she designed the objects. The objects around everything else fit in well, because it almost as if it like was a cartoon seen. Overall, Jill did a very good job with her project.

Alexis:

Alexis had a very clear and relatable self-directed project.  A lot of other students in our class could relate to the impact of moving from the beach to Colorado.  The city versus the beach are two different sceneries but both are beautiful.  I liked that the video was just of the views of both sceneries. The words in the video help the viewer to understand what was happening.  I liked the combination of new and old videos.  I liked the contrast between two different places but having the same meaning.  Overall, this was a very relatable topic and an enjoyable video to watch.

Elisa:

Elise took a different and creative approach with her self-directed project.  She took something so simple, such as a statue of two people reading a book and changed the sky and other objects around it.  She gave it a very dark and creepy effect. The music played a big role in being creepy.  The lighting and colors between the back and forth of the actual image and the statue image with the effects helped to give the creepy effect.  The tone of them music helped the view prepare for what was to be seen.  Overall, it was a well-done project with its creepy effects.

Haolin:

Haolin had a very fun approach on his self-directed project.  His project had a creepy, creative effect to the art room including lighting effects, different zooms, use of different objects with colors that he used on the objects and himself.  The use of the crazy clock at the beginning set the tone for the theme “I Dream.  Please Lock Me Up”.  His music was upbeat and set the tone of the project he created.  I liked the effects of one image to another and the use of the time of day helped the video come alive.  He took one image and created it with multiple effects.  Overall, it kept me interested and entertained to want to continue to watch.

Luis:

Luis did a great job with his self-directed project.  The beginning of the video showed a theme of darkness and creepy effects.  It set the tone with the various videos of scary eyes and intense music.  I like how he used his own artwork and own eyes the creepy effect of eyes are causing me to feel uncomfortable. It was a different approach. The variety of people shown gave different perspective on your project along with the blue and red color glare across the screen made it your own style.  The project was intense and very well done and it was almost uncomfortable to watch.

Olivia:

Oliva did a great job with her self-direct project. The music was fun project and made me feel positive mood and vibe when watching it. I like how she would use an area on campus and use it not just for the building. It showed the whole view. It was very creative taking the sky and using that as your main focus. It was a cool change of seasons with the effects. I liked how you kept it a sunny day. It went well wone with the effect you use in the sky and set tone of the final project.

Ying:

Ying did a great job with her self-direct project. It was creative with the piece of clothing. The music really added to the effect of the video. It was a very dark and creepy and scary vibe. But it also had a lot of emotion to the project. I love the song used for the theme of the video and along with giving you a dark black and white effect in the video. The presents on how you walk and move all over campus gave your project a purpose. Overall, this project was very well done and it cause me to want to watch it again
